Book Review Policy & Product Review Policy

Book Review Policy

I love reading, and truly do love writing book reviews and sharing new books with others.  This blog is currently a project of love, but certainly not a full-time job, although goodness I would love to devote to it full time!  This being said I am honored if you are reading this because you are looking to have me review a book.  I do have to be very selective when committing to others to read and review books as I don’t want to let you down by over-committing.

What I like to read

My preferred Genre:

    • Young Adult (YA)
    • New Adult
    • General Fiction (Adult)
    • Literary Fiction
    • Historical Fiction
    • Chick-Lit
    • Children’s
    • Middle-Grade
    • Horror
    • Mystery & Thrillers
    • Dystopian Fiction
    • Thriller/Suspense
    • Contemporary

And on the occasion also read:

    • Comic Books / Graphic Novels
    • Sci Fi & Fantasy (Adult)
    • Classics
    • Supernatural

Book Format

Children’s books are the only ones that I will only consider print format.  It is easiest to get my kids opinion along with mine if I have the physical copy.

For all other types of books print format is my preferred, but I will accept e-book format (preferably EPUB) for review consideration.

Where I Post

I post my reviews here on Books and Sassy Lilacs, as well as Amazon.com, and my Goodreads. I also share about my books, whether through reviews or conversation on Instagram, Twitter and my Facebook page.  I do also seek out ARCs proactively and review books on NetGalley.

Other things to know

I will always post an honest review, this means I may talk about parts of the book that I don’t like, or if I just didn’t like the book in general.

If you are looking to have a book reviewed that is part of a series and is not the first book, I will not consider reviewing it unless I receive the other books in the series.  If that is the case I will review all the books that I read in the series.

If you have a book that you would like reviewed that isn’t a new release, I am open to that!  I love reading older titles that I may have missed.

If you have a specific date in mind for publishing a review, please make sure I’m aware.  As I’ve mentioned earlier, this blog is not my full-time job and while I love it and do love to read, I want to be sure I am planning accordingly.

If I receive a physical copy of the book I will not sell for profit.  If I don’t add it to my own personal library, and I do love to hoard books, I may include them as a giveaway or include them in my frequent drop-offs to the Little Free Libraries in the area.  I am obsessed with those!

Contact Me

Through my contact page here on this blog, or by emailing me directly at:

Please send the title of the book, a synopsis, a link to your book on Goodreads or Amazon if it’s available and some basic information about the author.  If you’re looking for more than a review let me know what you’re thinking, let’s talk!
