I’m ready for February and have my February reading goals all ready for you. I shared my updated plan and also my specific goal for January. Did they seem a little too ambitious? Turns out, you were right. My eyes were definitely bigger than my time to read resulting in a pretty small complete pile, but that’s okay! I’m still going to set my goals high because I want to meet those goals. How did you do? What was our favorite book you read in January? Do you have a plan going into February?
Here are my goals for February. I’m close to being done with a few books and halfway through an audiobook so I will knock a few off really quickly once I get those completed!!

Reading Goals and Challenges
- Read 75 books (Goodreads challenge). Upping my game this year
- Read at least 10% non-fiction books. I do enjoy non-fiction, just always seem to grab fiction first
- Read my shelf! New books are so tempting!
- A Book A Week with the Pingel Sisters Challenge. Love working through some goals with other bloggers
Goal Breakdown and January Plans For My Reading Goals
Goal #1: Read 75 books (Goodreads challenge)
I read 3 books in January which sadly puts me 3 books behind. But like I said earlier, I’m so close to finishing a few books already that I think I’ll quickly catch up.
Those books are:
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan, see my review and guest post on The Uncorked Librarian, 4 stars
In Such Good Company: Eleven Years of Laughter, Mayhem, and Fun in the Sandbox by Carol Burnett – Read as an Audiobook, 4 stars
Ellie, Engineer: The Next Level by Jackson Pearce – Advanced Review Copy (ARC), 4 stars
Add your goal here.
Goal #2: Read at least 10% non-fiction books, tracked here
This month I read 1 non-fiction book, well over 10% of the 3 I read! Ha!
In Such Good Company: Eleven Years of Laughter, Mayhem, and Fun in the Sandbox by Carol Burnett – Read as an Audiobook, 4 stars
Be on the lookout for a review on this one.
This month I plan to read the 2 I was going to read last month, and
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
Drug Warrior: Inside the Hunt for El Chapo and the Rise of America’s Opioid Crisis
Goal #3: Read my shelf! / 2019 TBR Pile Challenge , tracked here
None, I’ve read none of my books this month. I will focus on the Challenge, but also focus on reading others from my shelf.
I will roll over from last month to read The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
Goal #4: A Book A Week with the Pingel Sisters Challenge, tracked here
I love their blog and am joining The Pingel Sisters with their challenge, and Book Club each month that lines up with one of the challenge books for that month. Here’s their suggestions for February to help you tick off some books in the challenge.
In January I set these goals:
A book with more than 500 pages (and the book club book): The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton – I had trouble getting this one from the library so didn’t finish and think I’ll chose a different one for this category this month.
A book you haven’t read by an author you love: The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah– I am so close to finishing this one! Such a great book.
A book that is a 2018 Goodreads Winner: I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara – I haven’t been able to read this one yet and am rolling this forward to February. Can’t wait to read it.
A book you can read in a day: The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch– – I haven’t been able to read this one yet and am rolling this forward to February.
A book about a difficult topic: Out of My Mind by Sharon M Draper– I am on the wait list for this one so think I’ll chose a different title for this category and complete it this month.
February goals:
A book with more than 500 pages: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
A book you haven’t read by an author you love: The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah– rollover from last month
A book that is a 2018 Goodreads Winner: I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara – rollover from last month
A book you can read in a day: The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch– rollover from last month
A book about a difficult topic: The Bucket List by Georgia Clark– This book is about the breast cancer gene, which is very personal to me. It is chick-lit so I’m hoping it will be the lighter side for me.
A Book Recommended by A Friend: Girl, Wash Your Face: Stop Believing the Lies about Who You Are So You Can Become Who You Were Meant to Be by Rachel Hollis – A friend recommended this to me a few months ago and I already own it!
Book That Will Make You Cry: Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron – Another way to read my book-list! This book is set in Iowa, so of course I had it in my pile.
Book Published in 2009: Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese – So many good reviews of this one!
A Book Becoming a Movie in 2019: The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn – I’ve been wanting to read this for a while!
Goal #5: 2019 Audiobook Challenge, tracked here
I’m ahead of my goal having finished two audiobooks this month!
January
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan, see my review and guest post on The Uncorked Librarian, 4 stars
In Such Good Company: Eleven Years of Laughter, Mayhem, and Fun in the Sandbox by Carol Burnett – Read as an Audiobook, 4 stars
For February I’m well on my way to finishing one:
The Secrets She Keeps by Michael Robotham
Goal #6: 2019 Finishing the Series Reading Challenge, tracked here
I’m working on:
UnSouled by: Neal Shusterman to get closer to finishing the Unwind series
Goal #7: 2019 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge, tracked here
Yikes, I may be in over my head. None of my books I read in January were Historical Fiction but based on the other books I’m working on for February I’ll finish three books.
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
Goal #8: 2019 Library Love Challenge, tracked here
I love my library!
I’m at two, so well on my way to 48 books:
January
The Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan, see my review and guest post on The Uncorked Librarian, 4 stars
In Such Good Company: Eleven Years of Laughter, Mayhem, and Fun in the Sandbox by Carol Burnett – Read as an Audiobook, 4 stars
Goal #9: Read and Review 10 Advanced Review Copies (ARC), tracked here
I’m well on my way to 10 ARC books having read one in January:
January
Ellie, Engineer: The Next Level by Jackson Pearce – Advanced Review Copy (ARC), 4 stars
February
I have a problem, that problem is constantly reading multiple books at at time. This means I have a number of books that are already in progress so should get 7 done (I hope so):
The Perfect Family by Shalini Boland
The Doll Collector by Joanna Stephen-Ward
Castle on the Rise by Kristy Cambron
How to Heal Yourself from Anxiety When No One Else Can by Amy B. Scher
Goal #10: 2019 New Release Challenge, tracked here
Let’s not go overboard, did you see my Advanced Review Copy books I have to read? Since all of the ARC books are 2019 new releases this means I’m more than set with this goal. I didn’t get any read in January.

You did set some ambitious goals but good for you! I did, too. Am making my way through them slowly, but I did better in January than I have so far in February. One of my goals has been to listen to audiobooks, too. I listened The Good Neighbor (about Mr. Rogers) and Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. Loved both of them, although The Good Neighbor was very long. Am now listening to The Good Daughter by Karen Slater. It’s my first book by that author. Good so far, but also very long.
Good luck in February!
I’m glad I’m not alone in ambitious goals! I’ve actually the opposite though in that I’ve already matched January so will at least come out the other end doing better than last month! I just requested The Good Neighbor as an audiobook! Glad to know it’s good. I’ll have to check out Then She Was Gone. Not all books are good as audiobooks as you know… 🙂
